Missing 73-year-old hiker found dead in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

A 73-year-old hiker named Gordon Kaye from Tampa, Florida, was found deceased in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park after being reported missing on April 22. Kaye was last seen on the lower part of the Appalachian Trail near the Deep Creek Trailhead in Bryson City, North Carolina. His body was discovered by a search team on Friday, and the cause of death is currently under investigation by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.
