  • An analysis of data from the National Survey of Children's Health has found that physically inactive children exhibit higher rates of anxiety and depression compared to their physically active peers.

A recent study published in the journal *JAMA Pediatrics* has found that children who are physically inactive are more likely to experience higher rates of depression and anxiety. The research, which analyzed data from over 13,000 children aged 11 to 17, showed that those engaging in less than an hour of physical activity per day had significantly increased odds of mental health issues. Specifically, the study highlighted that physical inactivity was linked to a 2.5 times higher risk of depression and a 1.5 times higher risk of anxiety compared to their more active peers. The findings underscore the importance of promoting physical activity among young people not only for physical health but also as a preventive measure against mental health disorders.
