  • A study identified a relationship between indoor temperatures and cognitive performance in older adults, revealing that exposure to excessively high or low temperatures can double attention difficulties in certain age groups.

A recent study published in the journal "Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience" has explored the impact of home temperature on brain health in the elderly. The research, conducted by scientists from the University of Southern California, suggests that maintaining an optimal indoor temperature can significantly influence cognitive function in older adults. The study found that temperatures between 68°F and 77°F (20°C to 25°C) are most beneficial for preventing cognitive decline. This temperature range helps in reducing the risk of hypothermia and hyperthermia, conditions that can adversely affect brain health. The findings underscore the importance of a stable and moderate home environment to support brain health, particularly for those with conditions like dementia or Alzheimer's, where temperature regulation might be impaired.
