  • Beef may not only be "what's for dinner," but may help slow the aging of our brains. That's what researchers at the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seek in what's described as a "first-of-its-kind" study on whether a link exists between eating beef and brain health.

Researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are exploring how specific foods can influence brain aging. Their study, part of the broader Nutrition and Cognition Lab's efforts, focuses on identifying dietary components that might slow cognitive decline. The research involves analyzing data from the UK Biobank, which includes dietary habits and cognitive assessments of over 500,000 participants. They are particularly interested in nutrients like flavonoids, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to better brain health. The study aims to provide concrete dietary recommendations to help maintain cognitive function as people age, potentially leading to public health guidelines on nutrition for brain health.
