'I thought my headaches were anxiety - then doctors discovered a tumour the size of a lime in my head'

  I had was losing my sight and my memory. But at 47 I carried on working - then discovered I had a brain tumour


Craig Russell, a 49-year-old father of two from Edinburgh, was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, after experiencing severe headaches and vision problems. Initially, his symptoms were misdiagnosed as migraines, but an MRI scan revealed a large tumor in his brain. Despite undergoing surgery to remove most of the tumor, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the cancer returned aggressively. His wife, Laura, shared their story to raise awareness about the symptoms of brain tumors, which can often be mistaken for less serious conditions. Craig's prognosis is poor, with the average survival time for this type of tumor being 12-18 months, and he is now focusing on spending quality time with his family. The family has also been campaigning for more research into brain tumors, highlighting the lack of funding and attention this cancer receives compared to others.
