  • The supermarket has launched a new prototype to help customers achieve their fitness goals while doing their weekly shop

Iceland, a UK supermarket chain, has introduced a new initiative aimed at promoting physical activity among its shoppers by replacing traditional shopping baskets and trolleys with heavier versions. These new baskets weigh 2.5kg and trolleys 9kg, designed to provide a workout while shopping. This move, spearheaded by Iceland's executive chairman Richard Walker, is part of a broader effort to encourage healthier lifestyles. The initiative was tested in a store in Warrington, Cheshire, where it received positive feedback for making shopping a bit more of a workout. The heavier baskets and trolleys are now being rolled out across all Iceland stores in the UK, with the goal of helping customers burn more calories during their shopping trips.
