A recent study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health has revealed that even a single session of moderate-intensity exercise can significantly enhance brain health. The research, conducted by scientists from the University of California, San Diego, involved 36 healthy adults who participated in a 10-minute bout of moderate exercise on a stationary bike. The findings indicated that this brief exercise session led to immediate improvements in cognitive functions, including memory, attention, and executive function. The study utilized functional MRI scans to show increased activity in brain regions associated with these cognitive processes. This suggests that even short bursts of physical activity can have a positive impact on brain function, potentially offering a simple strategy for enhancing mental performance and overall brain health.
