Polar Preet aims to be first woman to trek unsupported to North Pole
- Record-breaking adventurer Preet Chandi, 36, of Derby, wants to set off in March and hopes to complete the trek in around 70 days.
Polar Preet, whose real name is Harpreet Chandi, is attempting to become the first woman to trek unsupported to the North Pole. This endeavor follows her previous record-breaking solo ski expedition to the South Pole in 2023, where she became the first woman of color to achieve this feat. Her current challenge involves pulling a 120kg sled across the Arctic ice, facing temperatures as low as -40°C, and navigating through potentially hazardous ice conditions. Chandi's mission is not only to push her physical limits but also to inspire others, particularly women and people from diverse backgrounds, to pursue their dreams and overcome barriers. Her journey underscores themes of resilience, diversity, and the human spirit's capacity to endure extreme conditions.
